Effect of Fine Aggregates and Mineral Fillers on the Permanent Deformation of Hot Mix Asphalt

Conventional asphalt pavement is the dominant mode of passenger and freight traffic in Pakistan. As a result, pavements suffer from various failures, where rutting, corrugation, fatigue cracking are significant. Fine aggregates mineral fillers play pivotal role providing structural integrity when subjected to environment. The current study aims examine effects locally accessible fine aggregate filler materials on interlocking properties mixtures relation internal friction angle, rutting resistance, controlling environmental pollution as an indirect benefit, thereby reducing wastes. Four distinct samples were prepared using cinders, stone dust, natural sand, surkhi fillers, full replacement, per ASTM D1559, confirming Asphalt Institute’s gradation for wearing course. Optimum binder contents (OBC) 4.40%, 4.1%, 6.57%, 6.63% by weight Marshall specimen concluded containing cinder, surkhi, respectively. results revealed that cinder all showed diminishing tendency developing at angles 35°, 33.7°, 32°, 28.4°, wheel tracking test made with have highest rut whereas cinders lowest resistance. direct shear larger angle significantly more stable terms resistance than smaller friction. research will help prevent corrugation adding into pavements, reduction brick kiln waste benefit.
